Buns of Steel 8: Pregnancy Workout ASIN: 6303181813
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: A Must-have workout tape
Comments: I was more of a walker and weight training type person rather than an aerobic workout type person, but since I was going to be pregnant over the winter months and didn't want to have to go to the gym to work out, I decided to try some aerobic tapes. This tape was easy to follow, fun to do and challenging. I liked the format of this tape a lot - the instructor's style, the background, and content of the workout. I bought the Kathy Smith aerobic tape but I don't like it as well and rarely use it. I usually alternate between this and my Yoga Mama tape. I'm 7 months and feel great - I attribute that to the workout tapes - and I can totally feel it if I don't get my workout in. The only thing that kind of bugs is that the tape is rather poor quality - had a couple of static-y spots straight from the box - but the substance of the tape is perfect.

Kathy Smith - Pregnancy Workout ASIN: 1573309834
Customer's Rating: 2 Summary: Cheesy - that's the word I was looking for!
Comments: I bought this and the Buns of Steel tape at the same time when I was 4 months and I rarely watch this one - I'm now 7 months and I think I've done the aerobic part of this tape twice. The moves are not as crisp or something - a little too pop music dance-y for me - made me want to put on my lace gloves with the fingers missing, lots of bangles and a big lace bow in my hair, like Madonna a la Lucky Star. There's a lot going on in the background and there are a lot of women doing the work out too, some a little annoying and distracting. I do like the specific toning areas of the tape - I often do the Buns of Steel workout and follow up with some of the workouts from the toning section of this tape. And the little bubbles that have Kathy giving info about the purpose of the moves or how to perform them correctly is helpful, but not enough to make me want to do this tape.

Denise Austin - Pregnancy Plus Workout ASIN: 0784017883
Customer's Rating: 1 Summary: Not a very good workout
Comments: I worked out regularly before my pregnancy so I am in relatively good shape. I didn't think this video was very challenging at all. I get a better workout by going on a 30 mintue walk. I also didn't like the music. If you work out regularly I recommend purchasing another video.

Pilates For Pregnancy ASIN: B00006ZJEF
Customer's Rating: 4 Summary: Excellent video - perfect for pregnant women
Comments: One word describes this video. Excellent! I am a mother of 3 and soon to be 4. I am sick and tired of all those that think you are sick when you're pregnant, and you shouldn't exercise. In all of my pregnancies I have always worked out. I too waited by the mailbox for this video to arrive and I am extremely happy with it. My doctor reviewed the tape and was impressed. I am in my second trimester now, and I have been following Melinda's program 2 - 3 times a week since I got it. I can honestly say that I do not remember feeling as great as I do now in any of my last 3 pregnancies. The program is safe, effective and easy to follow. I think the proof is in the pudding. I am much more mobile this pregnancy than I have ever been. I am also much older this time as compared to my age during my first pregnancy. I attribute my strength and control in this pregnancy to this video, and I will be purchasing Melinda's "Pilates After Pregnancy" video, which I understand will be available soon. I read a review that said, "thou shalt not exercise lying on one's back while pregnant." Well, I rested, slept, and have done exercise on my back during all of my pregnancies. My doctor said most women lie on their back while pregnant without any problems. For the record, at no time in this video, are you lying on your back without moving. I have done Pilates for some time and can see that Melinda has modified most of the exercises so that they are safe for pregnant women. She has you always moving and never on you're back for a long time. I rate this video a solid 10 and recommend it. I am glad to see that someone finally broke through the all of the hype about lying on your back. Thank you Melinda I am forever grateful.

Buns and Abs of Steel 9 - Post-Pregnancy Workout ASIN: 6303201423
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: Just wonderful
Comments: I really liked this video. It was a bit tough right after the baby was born. But it got better, because the video is set up for you to get stronger gradually. And contrary to the title, it helps strengthen your abs, legs, and buns! A good purchase.

Fit For 2 Step Aerobic Workout For Pregnancy ASIN: 0967677106
Customer's Rating: 4 Summary: Great pregnancy workout tape!
Comments: This video is excellent for a mommy who's familiar with aerobics. I've been doing aerobics for many years so I consider myself quite advanced. So I was looking for an aerobic tape where the instructor didn't explain EVERY LITTLE STEP to you as she was going along. I find that quite annoying when I do aerobics. I feel that if you don't know aerobics, then take a class on learning so others don't have to waste their time learning them again. Either put that in the beginning of the tape so we can fast forward, or have beginning, intermediate, and advanced tapes. The main reason I bought this tape was because of the reviews and somebody complained about them not being able to catch on to the moves so I knew it was the right one for me! I have the Denise Austin tapes and I think she's awful because she explains way too much and I lose interest! Just say STRADDLE, or TURN STEP, and we'll do it, no need to explain if you've been doing it for years! Another reason why I liked this tape is because you not only get an aerobic workout, but you get toning for your upper and lower body, kegel exercises, and we all know how important those are for labor and delivery, and a relaxation session at the end especially for those who are considering a drug-free natural childbirth. I rated this tape a 4 instead of a 5 only because they are off key on the rhythm a few times but it's not enough to NOT buy the tape! I don't even look at them, I just listen to the steps she says, and do it. I do it every other day and love it! It may not be as much as I'm used to before I was pregnant because I would do at least an hour straight of aerobics, but enough to get my heart rate up, sweat a little, and feel great afterwards! I highly recommend this tape if you're familiar with aerobics before you got pregnant, and want to stay active during your pregnancy!

Yoga Zone: Postures for Pregnancy ASIN: 6305661693
Customer's Rating: 2 Summary: This DVD requires thought
Comments: We own another Yoga Zone DVD, and it is great, so naturally I bought this one when my wife got pregnant. This is NOT the same format as the other Yoga Zone DVD. It is a guy (and his 8-month pregnant wife as a model) advising you the different positions. There is no background music, and the poses are held for long periods of time while the guy explains correct form. We were not interested in "performing" or getting the forms exactly right, but rather light exercise that was safe and easy to do. This video is more for someone with extensive Yoga experience.

Kathy Smith - Pregnancy Workout ASIN: 6302965594
Customer's Rating: 3 Summary: incorrect date of video
Comments: hopefully it's a honest mistake, but how would you miss exact date of video? should have been "1989" not "1993".

Jane Fonda: Pregnancy Workout ASIN: 6302872103
Customer's Rating: 4 Summary: A very complete video for mothers to be
Comments: This is an excellent video for new mothers to be. I used it during my pregnancy and it was very encouraging. It starts with a warm-up and arm routine. Then it goes on to the middle, and lower body. It also has some special streaching routines and it has a part that practices the breathing for labor and relaxation. This is part that is the best. After you've had your baby it has some abdominal exercices with the baby near you (I noticed some exercices almost hit the babies)! Overall it was very helpfull and if you want to stay in shape during your pregnancy and practice relation and breathing you can get this video. The only thing is that the music was not very good and you have to listen to all the instruccions very carefully so you and your baby are safe. After having my baby I prefered other routines more ad-hoc.

Positive Prenatal Fitness - A Complete Pregnancy Workout ASIN: 0966444302
Customer's Rating: 5 Summary: Involving
Comments: I can understand why so many people don't like this video, but I loved it. The steps are challenging and involving without being too much workout. Yes, it took me several times before I could follow the whole video without missing my steps repeatedly (OK maybe a few more times than that), but you know what? I don't want a video I can do perfectly the first time. I want one that engages my brain as well as my body. I tried several other pregnancy videos, and found them thoroughly irritating. They were simple to the point of utter mindlessness, and the instructors tend to be annoyingly cheery. Aileen Sheron is pleasant but not chipper/perky, and builds steps quickly into mini dance routines that are actually both fun and interesting to do. I'd far rather spend the time having fun learning my way through this tape than droning on through something simpler like an automaton.

Positive Postnatal Fitness - A Complete Post Pregnancy Workout ASIN: 0966444310
Customer's Rating: 4 Summary: This video works great for me
Comments: I only do the cardio portion however. I use Buns and Abs of Steel (Post-Pregnancy) for the floorwork. I really like the exercises even though they took a few times to get the hang of. I love the fact that there is no jumping around but lots of variation in steps to keep it interesting. I began using this video about 1.5 months after delivery and have been using it since (almost 4 months postpartum). It is not too hard and not too easy which was important for me because I didn't want to get discouraged and quit using it. I have always had a hard time being motivated to exercise at home--not with this video. I would like to see other videos by Aileen Sheron.

Pregnancy Aerobics ASIN: 6302936489
Customer's Rating: 1 Summary: tired of being pregnant workout
Comments: One of the worst made exersize videos I have ever done. It looks and feels more like home made - balancing camera, side noise and there is NO music. I think it was shot at someones guest house or close to it. The instructor looks over 35 and very tired. not only she gave me zero motivation to complete the workout, I could not resist to feeling sorry for her ,me and any other pregnant woman. Besides, it is not physically challenging at all.

Pregnancy Workout ASIN: 6302860474
Customer's Rating: 1 Summary: Uncoordinated workout
Comments: This tape was not worth the money. I gave it away. The directions are poor. The flow feels uncoordinated and choppy. It wasn't interesting, and it wasn't a great workout. Pay a little extra for a better tape. You'll be glad you did.

Redbook Pregnancy ASIN: B00004Y6AK
Customer's Rating: 3 Summary: Low impact workout
Comments: This video provides a very low impact work-out that would be good for those who didn't really exercise before pregnacy, but are looking for something to meet the Dr.'s requirement to get moving now. If you are already in shape this video is boring and does not bring you to break the slightest sweat. The moves are repetative and require very little of you. It is better than nothing, but I prefer other video's I've tried.
