Summary: Eat Smart, Be Fit, Live Well
Comments: The words "Eat Smart, Be Fit, Live Well" are across the top of each issue of Cooking Light, and this sums up in a nutshell what the magazine is about.
First of all, I can't even look at the cover of an issue without getting hunger pangs! The photography is fantastic and is a real highlight of the magazine. But it is more than just pretty pictures! The content is rock solid. It contains practical health and nutritional information, tips for remodeling the kitchen, health and fitness facts, gadget and book reviews, traveling information and destinations, tutorials, etc. And, of course, you can expect to find plenty of mouth watering recipes for healthy meals. There is usually at least one recipe per issue that becomes a family favorite!
My only complaint is that the volume of advertisements can get a bit overwhelming. Aside from that fact, Cooking Light is simply fantastic!

Summary: Sister publication to "Sunset" Magazine
Comments: I subscribed to this magazine for 3 years and recently let it drop but I must say that I was getting over 16 Magazines a month, hence the need to shed a few. Southern Living provided excellent pictures, incredibly delicious recipes and wonderful articles about different cities. I highly recommend this publication if you already subscribe to "Sunset" it's format is almost identical, but "Sunset" being for "western living".
I kept all of my issues of this magazine and have also purchased the cookbooks that they put out under "Annual Recipes".

Summary: Practical recipes and a fun online community too!
Comments: Each issue of Bon Appétit is filled with recipes that make home cooking interesting. Articles on topics related to food, wine, restaurants, and travel provide some light reading, but the emphasis is on recipes ranging from simple ideas for dishes based on store-bought ingredients to elaborate meals entirely from scratch. Most are geared toward those of us who have some cooking experience but also have a life outside the kitchen, and allow you to achieve surprisingly good results with relatively little effort. The recipes are seasonal and often trendy, but not weird; ingredients can usually be found in well stocked supermarkets. One of the best features isn't even in the magazine - it's the way all the recipes are available for review on the Epicurious web site. If you like Amazon reader reviews, you will love Epicurious recipe reviews, which let you reap the benefit of a whole community's experience with each recipe. Subscribing to Bon Appétit gives you the best of both worlds - a magazine you can read at your leisure, wherever you like, and a community of cooks with whom to share ideas if you wish.

Summary: Will Not Renew...
Comments: I have always enjoyed Martha's ideas, but this magazine is hard to read - it reads very slow. If you enjoy reading 5 full pages about the green pea or the like, then this is the magazine for you. You will find some things that you will think of making (if you have the time), but the impractical things take up most of the magazine. I was disappointed.

Summary: More than just a food magazine
Comments: I have been a Gourmet subscriber for decades. I started getting Gourmet because I love to cook. I have stayed with the magazine because it is so much more than just a compilation of recipes. With all the food sites on the web and cookbooks galore, you can get recipes anywhere. What you can't get is the things that Gourmet gives - the places where food comes from, the way people in these places celebrate life through the food they serve their friends and families and the innovative things that cooks around the country do to make these cuisines their own.
I hope to travel the world one day and celebrate other people and cultures through their food (and wine!). Gourmet and its wonderful writers and photographers help me go there now, if for only a little while.

Comments: My husband is a culinary student, so I ordered this magazine subscription. He looks forward to each issue, and is always finding ideas when he reads F&W. I know we'll subscribe for many years to come. This is a fun magazine for those who enjoy cooking, both at home or in a professional setting.

Summary: Good...but not great
Comments: ... The recipes are pretty good, though I wish there were more--and better--vegan recipes. I enjoy the magazine when it comes every month.
However, the magazine seems to be composed mostly of advertising. I know that a lot of magazines lean in that direction, but this one seems to do so more than most. Also, the articles aren't that fabulous; there's just not a lot of substance. I wish there were more attention to vegetarian/animal rights/ecological political issues. I don't want to be overly dramatic in my review, but it sort of seems like the magazine is aimed at upper-middle class women who are trying out vegetarianism to be hip like their yoga buddies. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, necessarily, but you should just know what you're buying when you subscribe.

Comments: I just received this new magazine as a gift from my mother, who knows I love to cook and entertain. What I did not expect from this new magazine was the broad range of topics, from travel and cooking (simple but elegant recipes, not made with wacky ingredients) to entertaining at home, to decor tips for your home. It is a perfect combination of Gourmet, Real Simple, Food and Wine and Traveler all rolled into one. You are not cheated as a full 90 pages are editorial and stories are not interrupted with ads. Summary: Best Cooking Magazine
Comments: I've subscribed to several other cooking magazines but this one by far is the best. The recipes are wonderful and every one is something that the family has loved. There are wonderful kitchen tips, ratings for kitchen gadgets, where to buy items you find in the magazine and so much more. This is the only magazine I have ever read from cover to cover and always look forward to the next one coming out and refer to the older editions I have all the time.

Summary: A Must Have!
Comments: This is one of those magazines that I tend to read cover to cover.
In recent months OG has changed the format and having done so, the number of pages has been decreased. At first glance this may seem like a bad move, however the change has made the magazine even better! The articles offer a wide range of topics and they are to the point. Some of the features include tips and suggestions from OG readers.
You need not be a current organic gardener to enjoy this magazine. Most of the ideas are for your typical backyard enthusiast who wants to explore new ways to enjoy their hobby without the need for extensive chemicals.

Comments: If you are tired of eating the same old stuff for dinner, this is the magazine for you! It is full of ideas and recipes using items that are actually found in your kitchen. Most other magazines use ingredients I have never heard of, much less own. Like most working mothers, I have limited time to create wonderful dishes for my family. This magazine takes all of the work out of it! I highly recommend it for those who want to serve a wonderful meal without spending money at the grocery and lots of time in the kitchen!

Comments: The magazine is very nice with color pictures and recipes that look okay, but that ingredients are either rare or expensive, the magazine is too fancy, and it's hard to find what the recipe is like. They don't put a review, you have to tell for yourself. And plus if it doesn't have a picture, you have to guess what's in it. I rate it one star. I'd rate it a half star if there was such thing, but there isn't. I wouldn't buy this magazine.
