Comments: My mother is allergic to wheat and so am I, so this book is a godsend to us, as it means we can now eat sandwiches. However I live in Ireland so I found it difficult to get used to "cups" rather than pounds and ounces, but once I learnt one cup is 8 fluid ounces, I discovered it is actually an easier and more accurate measurement of ingredients than using weighing scales. I actually want to advise anybody from Ireland reading this - guar and Xanthan gum (essential for gluten-free bread recipes) is very difficult to purchase in Ireland and I had to purchase from Oregon, USA. The postage cost more than the products, and delivery took 10 weeks...

Comments: To a first-timer in the "eating healthy" arena, I found the book filled with common sense ideas written in such a way that anyone could understand. The concepts were dealt with in short,easy-to-understand modules (chapters). Each module was complete and was built upon the one(s) preceding it. The message was simple from the start: eat right (less fat/more fiber), drink water, exercise. And that message was hammered home throughout the entire 142 pages. And, for what its worth, I finished reading the book the first time in about two hours and am now reading it for the third time in a week!

Comments: For those looking for a more healthy approach to food, this book paves the way. It is filled with fact and documented support. Many hours of research and planning went into compiling the plethora of recipes. With these one can feel assured that they are on the way to a reduced but tasty low-fat diet. My husband was diagnosed with hyperlipidemia and I went looking for recipes designed as fat-free or reduced fat. This book affords me the opportunity of cooking delicious and healthy food for him. It also gave me valuable information on how to de-fat other recipes and be able to decipher the myriad of labels now bombarding our grocery shelves. It should be on the shelf and used by every serious cook around.

Comments: I really had high hopes for this book. The forward information is good, very helpful. There is a high fiber version of the food pyramid that I take with me to the store. Unfortunately, out of the 5 or so recipes I have tried, not one is good enough to make again. Lest you think we are just fussy, Wonder bread type of eaters, we are not. I have a daughter with chronic constipation and I collect high fiber recipes and foods. I have found many foods that taste great and are helpful as well. But these foods all taste like cardboard. I can't recommend it as much as I would like to.

Comments: I have been struggling with my weight since I had my first child. Normally I don't like diets because a) they rarely work and b) many aren't healthy (like The Zone). A personal trainer in my gym recommended this book to me because it's medically sound. Well, after three weeks on this diet, I can tell you that it really works. I have lost 5 pounds and I feel like I have so much more energy. I eat a bowl of oatmeal with dried cherries in the morning (7:00 am) and I don't feel hungry until 1:00pm! I eat all the fruits and veggies I want and the whole grains they talk about are actually really good. Plus the counter that comes with the book is a neat tool to keep you counting your fiber and fat grams each day. I plan on staying on this diet for life. Thank you 20-30!

Comments: I WAS RECENTLY HOSPITALIZED WITH DIVERTICULITIS. MY DR. ADVISED ME TO GET ON THE HIGH FIBER BAND WAGON. I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO GET THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF DAILY FIBER. THIS BOOK LISTS FOODS I HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF AND I FEEL IT IS VERY COMPLETE. GRANTED THE FIBER IS NOT DIVIDED AS TO THE KIND BUT... MY DR. SAID JUST USE THE TOTAL AND TRY AND GET 25-30 GRAMS A DAY AND YOU WILL BE FINE. I WAS QUITE SURPRISED AS I THOUGHT MY DAILY LUNCHEON OF TOSSED SALAD WAS WONDERFUL. GUESS WHAT ICEBERG LETTUCE IS SO LOW IN FIBER THAT IT IS NOT MUCH BETTER THAN A SLICE OF BREAD. OH DEAR. HOPE THIS HELPS MANY OF YOU.

Comments: I bought this book through the mail and it is awesome! My friends keep borrowing it and it's always somewhere else. Some of my friends would BUY this book if it were available. AND I would give this cookbook for a gift IF it were available. The Live Longer cookbook has great pictures and easy to follow recipes and every one that I have used has been delicious. I sure do hope that it is reprinted sometime soon.
