FileSolutions Filing Made Easy The Home Filing System
ASIN: 0962420212

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: A One Stop System to End the Chaos
Comments: FileSolutions does simply and well what so many other books and filing arrangements have tried and failed. The conception is straightforward--a well-defined yet flexible filing system for all of the essential papers of one's life. Don and Nora Donnelly created a home filing system that even the least organized consumer can implement. This system is useful for virtually anyone. One particular virtue the system may have, though, is for the 20something just starting out in the adult world, who would rather have a filing system based on organization rather than whimsy. The second ideal consumer might be the "tried and failed" filer who faces a mountain of paperwork, a jumble of well-intentioned but roughly useless files, and wants to bring order from chaos. Even the established "neat as a pin and every paper in place" filer, though, can find useful ideas in how this system works. Don and Nora Donnelly don't waste the reader's time with pep talks about filing or pseudo-psychology. Instead, this filing system is practical in the greatest degree. In other words, this is not just "some book", this is a real filing system. If you are having trouble (or need a gift for someone who never wishes to have trouble) with filing solutions, I recommend you try FileSolutions.
File Don't Pile a Proven Filing System for Personal and Professional Use

Summary: This is a life saver
Comments: If you are a major paper person (and I am), this is the format for you. When you read the book, it does sound complicated and like a lot of work. When you actually do it, however, it is the simplist thing ever. I kept saying to my husband, "I can't believe how little time it takes to get this stuff filed!". It actually encourages me to file because it's so simple. And it doesn't require upkeep everyday. In fact, I probably only truly file every 3-4 weeks. In addition, the book only takes a few hours to read, so if you decide you like what you're doing better (if you do, tell me about it) you haven't really wasted much time. It's a very easy read, and a very simple system for filing and retrieving a variety of papers on a variety of topics.
Taming the Paper Tiger at Work

Summary: This is it!
Comments: I have read at least a dozen books on how to get organized, at work or in general. As a professional with a private office, I have found this book the most helpful, inspirational, and practical among those. The language is neither condescending nor folksy; the principles are clearly stated and summarized; and all advice is eminently applicable. Now I have all my office files in half a drawer and I can produce any document within seconds. The author does not require you to clean up your office in one day: you are allowed to start from today's paper piles and work backwards as needed. We procrastinators are now officially out of excuses.

Summary: On and Organizational Kick...
Comments: I would have rated this book higher if it had been the first book I read about organization. However, I purchased 5 at the same time while on a work space organizational kick. I read Organizing Your Workspace by Odette Pollar first as it states it's a quick read. Paper Tiger gave the same basic organization structure as Pollar's book, but with a more interesting and real tone than Pollar. However, Paper Tiger spent the second half of the book on the big picture of organizational organization, the home office, computer files, and long term maintenance of the filing system. Things I'm not interested in right now that I am in the overwhelming start of a new organizational process. This info may be helpful to me in a few months when I have established a routine and can concentrate on long term maintenance. I would have found more practical time saver tips and starting advise a better help.
